Portraits and Commissions
I would be delighted to speak with you about creating a work of art for your home, office or commercial space.
Just as with the creation of a new brand for a company, creating a commissioned piece of fine art is a highly personal and interactive experience between client and artist. Your vision and the environment in which your piece of fine art will reside are of utmost importance, and you may have very specific ideas of subject matter, theme, size, color or even style.
If there is particular subject matter you wish included in your art, I can work from photos, life, or other references. Please take a few minutes to describe what you want in the Fields on my Contact Page so that I can begin to share your vision, and no worries if it’s no more than a vague notion and general size.

Traits: Fine oil portraits that capture the essence of a person’s soul, not just a likeness of their face. In my Traits work, I make realistic figurative studies from informal photos of people, and place them in ethereal environments with elements of symbolism, abstract expressionism, and surrealistic imagery. Just like in my conceptual work. Except with Traits my focus is more on the individual person—what makes them unique—and not some obtuse theme struggling to release itself from from my creative psyche.
Each Trait includes one representationally rendered subject, accompanied by minimal environmental background work, painterly effects or other expressive elements.
- Each additional subject will add 50% to the cost of the painting, up to a total of five subjects. (See pricing page...or just call 512-517-8733)
- Elaborate, detailed, full-frame background work is discouraged, as it will distract from the subject and is not a trait of Traits
- Any non-standard canvas shapes or sizes may have to be custom built and will incur additional costs
